I had always wanted to do an African theme quilt with a twist and I thought why not a non traditional zebra. I'm not real big on conformity and liked the idea of being yourself in your own way. The applique is all needle turned and then done on the machine with monopoly. Extra details are added with the quilting such as the sun god and leaf details, and if you look close, you can even find additional animals hidden in the quilting including a pride of lions. The quilt took second in the Joann's quilt your colors contest, 1st at the NE State Fair and 2nd at MQ Today 2013, and was Juried into quilt odyssey and IQA Houston. It was featured in the Nov, 2014, issue of Machine Quilting Unlimited, and took part in Art Prize 2014.
